What’s New for the RAM 1500?

The 2021 RAM 1500 offers some cool new options for those looking to upgrade. Upgrades include an available head-up display, a fully-digital rearview mirror, and Off-Road pages in the infotainment system to show the driver’s pitch-and-roll monitoring, ride height, and transfer-case mode.

Also new this year is pedestrian detection, improved trailer-specific features, and the newly enhanced forward-collision warning. You’ll also find a new trim level, the Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition, which includes exclusive badging, Mountain Brown interior, and unique trim pieces.

Engine and Fuel Economy

The 1500’s base engine is a 305-hp V6, but there are several engines available, including:
• 260-hp V6
• Two 395-hp V8s (one is a mild-hybrid)
• 702-hp supercharged V8 (available only on the Ram TRX)
Each engine pairs with a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission.
The base RAM 1500 gets an average of 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which are good ratings for its class.

The V8 models get 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, which is in line with other V8-powered pickups. The mild-hybrid V8 offers 17/23 mpg city/highway, which is slightly better than most V8s. The most fuel-efficient option is the diesel-powered RAM that gets 22/32 mpg city/highway.

Handling, Off-Road Performance, and Towing Capacity

Like most large trucks, the RAM doesn’t exhibit must handling prowess, but it’s composed and stable on winding roads. No other truck delivers the luxurious ride that you’ll get from the RAM 1500.
